BeerCanPickup connects neighbours who have empty beverage containers with motivated young Collectors in their area. Neighbours schedule a free pickup, and a local Collector comes by, takes the empties to a recycling depot, redeems the deposits, and earns money toward their education.

Two kinds of people: Neighbours of any age who want their cans and bottles collected for free, and youth Collectors (12 and older) who want to earn money by claiming a recycling route in their neighbourhood.

It is completely free for Neighbours — create an account, add your address, and schedule pickups at no cost. Collectors get their first route free and only start paying once they are actually earning (see the Pricing & Billing section).

Click Register, enter your name and email, and you are in. Everyone starts as a Neighbour; you can apply to become a Collector afterward from your dashboard.

Register for free, add your address, then choose Schedule a Pickup. The Collector covering your area is notified right away and will arrange to come by.

No — the service is free, and the Collector keeps the deposit refunds as their earnings. Your empties go to a great cause: helping a local young person earn money for their future.

Give them a quick rinse, keep them whole (don't crush them), and bag or bin them. Our Recycling Tips page has the full rundown.

You can still register and add your address. Pickups are fulfilled once a Collector claims a route that covers your neighbourhood — and more Collectors are joining all the time. You can also ask local youth if they would be interested in starting a recycling company.

Once you have an account, go to My Routes and complete the short Collector application. You must be at least 12 years old.

You draw an exclusive route on the map for your neighbourhood. Every pickup request inside that area comes to you — no competing with other Collectors for the same streets.

You are notified the moment a neighbour in your route schedules a pickup, so you can plan your trips and respond quickly.

You collect the containers, take them to a recycling depot, and keep the deposit refunds. In the Earnings area you set your refund rate per container type (for example, deposits are $0.10 for cans & beer bottles and $0.20 for wine & spirit bottles) so the app can track what you earn over your lifetime.

A billable route is a flat $20 per month. You can run multiple routes; each additional billable route is the same monthly price.

Every new Collector gets one free route to start. It stays free until your lifetime earnings cross $20. At that point a 7-day window opens before the free route automatically converts to a paid subscription — by then you have already earned more than a month's cost.

Yes — you have 30 days from claiming a free route to sign up (start the paid subscription, either by crossing the $20 earnings mark or by choosing "Keep this route" on your My Routes page). If you haven't signed up within 30 days, the route is released so another collector can claim the area. You're never charged for a route you let expire.

You add a card on file when you create your route, but you are not charged while your route is still free. Billing only begins if and when your free route converts, or when you add a second route.

Yes. Manage everything from Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future billing. (Note: the one-time free route is a lifetime perk — deleting it does not earn you another.)
